Composite Veneers

Composite Veneers are thin layers of composite resin that are placed on the surfaces of teeth in order to change the appearance of your dentition and smile.

Teeth that are discoloured, chipped, rotated, or spaced can be transformed with veneers. Composite veneers are placed directly on to teeth. This procedure is carried out by your dentist at your dental clinic. The procedure involves one or two appointments in which your input is essential in reaching a desirable outcome.

First your dentist will perform a consultation discussing costs, aesthetic desires, and a treatment sequence. At this stage your dentist may also take some clinical photos prior to carrying out your treatment.

The tooth structure and gums should be in stable condition prior to placement of veneers. Defective fillings should be replaced and gums should be free of periodontal disease before proceeding. The dentist will make an assessment and advise you about this.

During the first appointment, the teeth are prepared and tooth coloured filling material is placed on the front of the teeth and shaped to the desired form. The material is finished and polished to a life-like shine. A second polishing appointment may be necessary. If any further adjustments are needed, these will be advised by the dentist.

How Long Do They Last?

Longevity: It is impossible to place any specific time criteria on the length of time that veneers should last. Once the tooth structure is prepared for veneer placement, the patient is committed to veneers for life. Should the veneers become damaged, leaky, or stained, they will need to be replaced. As part of your treatment with us, all composite veneers carry a 3 YEAR warranty subject to you attending for annual review, maintaining good oral hygiene and following the post treatment instructions given by the dentist on the maintenance of the veneer.
